Season 14 of "CBS WKND," the Network's Award-Winning Saturday Morning E/I Lineup, Premieres Oct. 3

Today CBS announced the Saturday morning E/I lineup for the 2026-27 season of CBS WKND. The schedule includes new series LUCKY DOG: PAWS WITH PURPOSE, paired with LUCKY DOG: DOWN UNDER (season two) for a one-hour block of the popular “Lucky Dog” franchise. The remaining series are HOPE IN THE WILD (season eight), THE VISIONEERS WITH ZAY HARDING (season three), DR. CHRIS PET VET (rebroadcasts) and THE OPEN ROAD WITH DR. CHRIS (rebroadcasts). New episodes premiere Saturday, Oct. 3 (9:00 AM-12:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The CBS WKND Saturday morning lineup is a diverse family-friendly schedule featuring compelling shows and stories of hope and compassion designed to enlighten, teach and inspire viewers to make a greater commitment to themselves, their families and their communities.
LUCKY DOG: PAWS WITH PURPOSE
Animal trainer Brandon McMillan, the Emmy® Award-winning host of the original LUCKY DOG series, matches deserving dogs with military members and families, highlighting how the bond between people and animals can provide comfort, companionship and stability. Along the way, viewers learn about the unique experiences of service members and military families and how qualities such as discipline, patience, teamwork and trust play an important role in both military life and successful dog training. The series will also feature Smoky, a certified therapy dog and USAA’s new K9 ambassador and chief pawsitivity officer, alongside her handler, Chris, an Air Force reservist and former military working dog handler.
LUCKY DOG: DOWN UNDER
Hosted by Brandon McMillan and based on the hit international format “The Dog House Australia,” this show captures the heartwarming stories of Australian shelter dogs as they transition from rescue and rehabilitation to cherished members of loving families. Whether it’s a scrappy terrier, an energetic kelpie or a partially deaf cattle dog, audiences will discover that second chances can transform lives on both ends of the leash.
HOPE IN THE WILD
This live-action program follows Hope Swinimer and her dedicated team as they rescue and rehabilitate injured and orphaned animals of all kinds. Hope’s passion for wildlife conservation shines through everything she does to lead her team on their mission to care for and return each animal to the wild. From the pressure of saving an animal in critical condition to the joy in witnessing its victorious return home, HOPE IN THE WILD will educate viewers on the day-to-day jobs of this animal care team and the species they encounter.
THE VISIONEERS WITH ZAY HARDING
Hosted by international explorer and longtime adventure host Zay Harding, this series takes viewers around the world as it presents the remarkable scientists, engineers and everyday people who are creating environmental solutions. This season, the series welcomesseveral high-profile guests united in their shared passion for climate-solutions: Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle and five-time NFL Players Association Community MVP Award-winner Kelvin Beachum; highly ranked NASCAR driver Austin Green; and Luci Baines Johnson, businesswoman, philanthropist and daughter of Lyndon Baines Johnson, America’s 36th president, among others.
DR. CHRIS PET VET
Chronicling the adventures of Dr. Chris Brown, DR. CHRIS PET VET allows viewers a unique insight into the life of one of the world’s busiest vets and the animals he devotes his days to caring for and treating. For those animals that require specialist services, Dr. Chris calls on his good friend and colleague Dr. Lisa Chimes, who works at a small animal specialist hospital. Each episode leaves viewers with a sense of hope and survival with a carefully crafted mix of human and animal interest stories, featuring a variety of animals.
THE OPEN ROAD WITH DR. CHRIS
Complementing his dedication to animal care and environmental stewardship, renowned veterinarian and host Dr. Chris Brown, who also hosts DR. CHRIS PET VET, embarks on an extraordinary journey around the globe, introducing young people to exhilarating experiences, from hiking in the heart of a volcano to swimming with humpback whales. Each episode will feature Dr. Chris in a culturally diverse destination where he will uncover the best-kept secret of the region. Whether he’s exploring the history of the Chilean capital or coming face-to-face with a live volcano in Vanuatu, THE OPEN ROAD WITH DR. CHRIS is the viewer’s passport to a rare educational adventure.
The CBS WKND block is designed to be FCC educational/informational compliant, targeted to 13-16-year-olds and appealing to all viewers. All the programs are specifically designed to further the educational and informational needs of children, have educating and informing children as a significant purpose and otherwise meet the definition of Core Programming as specified in the Commission’s rules.
