Nirvana to Receive Video Vanguard Award at "2026 MTV Video Music Awards"

Nirvana is the 2026 “VMAs” Video Vanguard recipient. On this date in 1992 (9/9/92), Nirvana took to the “VMAs” stage for the first time – shaping music, culture and MTV forever. A social announcement broke the Vanguard news here.
The “VMAs” will air Sunday, Sept. 27 (6:30-8:30 PM, CT) on CBS Lake Charles, simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+ (Premium) in the U.S. The show will also be available globally the next day on Paramount+ and MTV.
