Tony Dokoupil and Nischelle Turner to Host "The Great American Block Party 250" Star-Studded Celebration

The Three-Hour Special Culminates with What’s Being Called the Largest Fireworks Display Ever

CBS EVENING NEWS anchor Tony Dokoupil and ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT co-host Nischelle Turner will host THE GREAT AMERICAN BLOCK PARTY 250, a three-hour live primetime celebration of America’s 250th birthday, airing Saturday, July 4 (7:00-10:00 PM, CT) on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+ and CBS News 24/7.

Broadcast live from the celebration in the nation’s capital, the special will take viewers coast to coast for star-studded concerts and performances, culminating in what organizers are calling the largest fireworks show in history over the skies of Washington, D.C.

The special will feature exclusive performances by Zac Brown Band, Jon Batiste, Goo Goo Dolls and The War and Treaty, with additional performers to be announced.

Dokoupil and Turner will host live in the shadow of the Washington Monument. The special will include moments from July 4 events in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Charleston, New York, Philadelphia, Mount Rushmore and Fort Campbell, Ky. The special will also mark the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, N.D.

Leading up to the event, CBS MORNINGS and the CBS EVENING NEWS with TONY DOKOUPIL will broadcast live from Washington, D.C, on Friday, July 3, with CBS SATURDAY MORNING broadcasting live from Washington on Saturday, July 4.
