KENDRICK LAMAR, THE MOST NOMINATED ARTIST THIS YEAR WITH 10 NODS, COULD TIE MICHAEL JACKSON AND WHITNEY HOUSTON FOR THE MOST AWARDS IN A SINGLE YEAR SHOULD HE WIN IN ALL 8 CATEGORIES
Kendrick Lamar, who already has three American Music Awards to his name, could take home a potentially record-breaking eight trophies this year. He is nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist, Favorite Hip-Hop Album, Favorite Hip-Hop Song (x3). If he wins in all eight categories he will tie Michael Jackson (1984) and Whitney Houston (1994), who each took home eight awards in one night. Other top single-year winners include Lionel Richie with six awards in 1985, Bruno Mars with seven awards in 2017, and Taylor Swift with six awards in 2019.
FIRST TIME NOMINEES HAVE A STRONG SHOWING, INCLUDING THREE UP FOR ARTIST OF THE YEAR
First time nominee Chappell Roan tied AMA vet Billie Eilish’s seven - the most celebrated female artists this year - with a chance to take home trophies for Artist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Social Song of the Year, Favorite Female Pop Artist, and Favorite Pop Album.
Also entering the AMAs chat for the first time, Shaboozey received seven nominations, including New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Social Song of the Year, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Male Country Artist, Favorite Country Album, and Favorite Country Song.
Other first time nominees include Benson Boone, Doechii, Gracie Abrams, Jelly Roll, Lola Young, The Marías, ROSÉ, Teddy Swims, Tommy Richman, Tyla, as well as Artist of the Year nominees Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter and Zach Bryan.
POST MALONE COULD TAKE HOME HIS FIRST AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD IN A THIRD GENRE
Post Malone has previously taken home awards in the Rap/Hip Hop and Pop/Rock categories. He could add to that list with possible wins for Favorite Male Country Artist, Favorite Country Album, and Favorite Country Song this year. He is also nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Collaboration of the Year (x2), for a total of eight.
TAYLOR SWIFT COULD EXTEND HER OWN RECORD FOR MOST AMA WINS OF ALL TIME
Taylor Swift could add to her record-shattering 40 wins this year, having been nominated in six categories including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Favorite Touring Artist, Favorite Female Pop Artist, and Favorite Pop Album.

While Beyoncé is no stranger to the American Music Awards - she has 11 to her name - this year marks the first time that she is nominated in the country music categories with nods for Album of the Year, Favorite Female Country Artist, and Favorite Country Album.
ARIANA GRANDE IS RECOGNIZED AS A SOLO ARTIST AND FOR HER WORK IN “WICKED”
Grande could earn trophies this year both for her work as a solo artist, and as part of the Box Office-smashing cast of “Wicked.” She is nominated for Artist of the Year and for Favorite Soundtrack.

Justin Bieber currently holds the record in this category with four wins (2010, 2012, 2016, 2020). Bruno Mars took home the trophy in 2011 and 2017. This would be the first win in this category for Benson Boone, Hozier, Teddy Swims, and The Weeknd.

Taylor Swift is the current record holder for the most wins in the Favorite Pop Album category with five wins, followed by Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber with three wins each. She could take home her sixth in this category with a win for “The Tortured Poets Department.” This would be the first win in this category for any of her fellow nominees Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, and Sabrina Carpenter.

Garth Brooks is the current record holder for most wins in the Favorite Male Country Artist category with eight wins. If Morgan Wallen wins, it would be his second consecutive win in this category, while Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Post Malone, and Shaboozey would all be first time recipients.
FAVORITE FEMALE COUNTRY ARTIST
Reba McEntire is the current record holder for most wins in the Favorite Female Country Artist category with 11 wins. This year’s nominees - Beyoncé, Ella Langley, Kacey Musgraves, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney - would all take home the trophy in this category for the first time.
FAVORITE COUNTRY DUO OR GROUP
Alabama is the current record holder for most wins in the Favorite Country Duo or Group category with 17 wins. Dan + Shay hold four wins, and could take home their fifth with their nomination this year. Old Dominion, Parmalee, The Red Clay Strays, and Zac Brown Band would be first time winners in this category.
FAVORITE COUNTRY ALBUM
Carrie Underwood currently leads for the most wins in this category with six. It would be the first category win for all artists nominated this year - Beyoncé, Jelly Roll, Megan Moroney, Post Malone, and Shaboozey.
FAVORITE COUNTRY SONG
Kenny Rogers leads in this category with five all-time wins. It would be the first win in this category for Jelly Roll, Koe Wetzel & Jessie Murph, Luke Combs, Post Malone (featuring Morgan Wallen, who has one previous win in this category), and Shaboozey.
FAVORITE MALE HIP-HOP ARTIST
Eminem currently holds the record in this category with three wins, and could extend his record if he wins this year. It would be both Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s second win in this category, and first for Future and Tyler, The Creator.
FAVORITE FEMALE HIP-HOP ARTIST
Missy Elliott and Nicki Minaj are tied for wins in this category with two each. Megan Thee Stallion won in 2021 and could tie their record with a win, while Doechii, GloRilla, Latto, and Sexxy Red would all be first time winners in this category.
FAVORITE HIP-HOP ALBUM
Nicki Minaj is the current record holder for most wins in the Favorite Hip-Hop Album category with three wins. Eminem and Kendrick Lamar have both won once before in this category, and it would be a first time category win for Future & Metro Boomin, Gunna, or Tyler, The Creator.
FAVORITE HIP-HOP SONG
Cardi B leads in the category with three wins. Kendrick Lamar, who has three nominations in this category, has never won in this category. Nor have his fellow nominees Future, Metro Boomin, GloRilla, and Sexxy Red.
FAVORITE MALE R&B ARTIST
Luther Vandross is the current record holder for most wins in the Favorite Male R&B Artist category with seven wins. It could be the fifth win for Usher, and fourth win for Chris Brown or The Weeknd. This would be Bryson Tiller and PARTYNEXTDOOR’s first ever AMA win in this category.
FAVORITE FEMALE R&B ARTIST
Rihanna and Beyoncé are tied as the current record holder for most wins in the Favorite Female R&B Artist category with seven wins each. It would be the first win for Kehlani, Muni Long, Summer Walker, SZA, and Tyla should any of them take home the award.
FAVORITE R&B ALBUM
Michael Jackson leads the Favorite R&B Album category with four all-time wins. It would be the third win in this category for The Weeknd, and first for fellow nominees Bryson Tiller, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and SZA.
FAVORITE R&B SONG
Michael Jackson holds the record for most wins (three) in this category. This would be the second win in this category for The Weeknd (“Timeless”) and first for Chris Brown (“Residuals”), Muni Long (“Made For Me”), SZA (“Saturn”), Playboi Carti (“Timeless” with The Weeknd), and Tommy Richman (“Million Dollar Baby”).
FAVORITE MALE LATIN ARTIST
Enrique Iglesias is the current record holder for the Favorite Latin Artist category with eight wins. The Latin categories were expanded in 2020 to include Favorite Male Latin Artist, with Bad Bunny taking home the award in both 2020, 2021, and 2022. It would be his fourth win in this category, and the first American Music Award win for Feid, Peso Pluma, Rauw Alejandro, and Tito Double P.
FAVORITE FEMALE LATIN ARTIST
The Latin categories were expanded in 2020 to include Favorite Female Latin Artist, with Becky G taking home the award in both 2020 and 2021. It would be her third award in this category, and the first for KAROL G, Natti Natasha, Shakira, and Young Miko. Shakira has five previous wins (2005, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2017) in the Latin Music Artist category.
FAVORITE LATIN DUO OR GROUP
This would mark the first American Music Award win for all of the nominees in this category - Calibre 50, Fuerza Regida, Grupo Firme, Grupo Frontera, and Julión Álvarez y su Norteño Banda.
FAVORITE LATIN ALBUM
The Latin categories were expanded in 2020 to include Favorite Latin Album, with Bad Bunny holding the record in this category with wins in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Bad Bunny is up for his fourth win this year. Fuerza Regida, Peso Pluma, Rauw Alejandro, and Tito Double P would be first time winners in this category.
FAVORITE LATIN SONG
The Latin categories were expanded in 2020 to include Favorite Latin Song, with KAROL G and Nicki Minaj taking home the inaugural award in 2020. KAROL G is up for her second win with “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido.” Bad Bunny (“DtMF”), FloyyMenor X Cris Mj (“Gata Only”), Oscar Maydon & Fuerza Regida (“Tu Boda”), and Shakira (“Soltera”) would be first time winners in this category.
FAVORITE ROCK ARTIST
Linkin Park is the current record holder for most wins in the Favorite Rock Artist category with six wins. They could take home their seventh this year, while Pearl Jam could take home their third, and Twenty One Pilots is up for their second. Hozier and Zach Bryan would be first time winners in this category.
FAVORITE ROCK ALBUM AND FAVORITE ROCK SONG
The Rock categories were expanded in 2022 to include Favorite Rock Album and Favorite Rock Song. All of the 2025 nominees would be first time winners in these categories.
FAVORITE DANCE/ELECTRONIC ARTIST
Marshmello holds the record in the Favorite Dance/Electronic Artist category with four wins and is up for his fifth this year. David Guetta and Lady Gaga are up for their second wins in this category, while Charli xcx and John Summit would both be first time winners.
FAVORITE SOUNDTRACK
“Arcane League of Legends: Season 2,” Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande & Various Artists: “Wicked: The Soundtrack”, “Hazbin Hotel (Original Soundtrack)”, “Moana 2 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack),” and “Twisters: The Album” are all up for Favorite Soundtrack this year. “Moana (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)” won in this category in 2017.
FAVORITE AFROBEATS ARTIST
Wizkid is up for his second award in this category, after winning its inaugural presentation in 2022. Asake, Rema, Tems, and Tyla would all be first time winners.
FAVORITE K-POP ARTIST
BTS won this category when it was first presented in 2022. All of this year’s nominees - ATEEZ, Jimin, RM, ROSÉ, and Stray Kids - would be first time winners.
