New Critically Acclaimed Drama "Matlock," Receives Second Season Order on CBS

CBS announced a full season order for GEORGIE & MANDY’S FIRST MARRIAGE. Starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, the new comedy, created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, expands the universe of THE BIG BANG THEORY and YOUNG SHELDON.

“With the resounding success of THE BIG BANG THEORY and YOUNG SHELDON, we were instantly on board when Chuck, Steven and Steve brought us the idea to further explore this world through GEORGIE & MANDY’S FIRST MARRIAGE,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “The enthusiastic audience reception has demonstrated the enormous appeal of these characters, and we can’t wait to see all of the hilarious fun this season will undoubtedly deliver.”

According to VideoAmp and Paramount+ internal data, the premiere episode for GEORGIE & MANDY’S FIRST MARRIAGE amassed 10.6 million multiplatform viewers in its first seven days, up versus YOUNG SHELDON’s final season premiere on Feb. 15. Streaming on Paramount+ and CBS TVE (CBS.com / CBS App) is up +72% from the last season debut of YOUNG SHELDON on an AMA basis.

GEORGIE & MANDY’S FIRST MARRIAGE follows Georgie (Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage. Rachel Bay Jones, Will Sasso, Dougie Baldwin and Jessie Prez also star. The show airs on Thursdays, 7:00-7:30 PM, Central on CBS Lake Charles and is available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

CBS has also announced full season orders for the new comedy POPPA’S HOUSE and the drama NCIS: ORIGINS, the newest addition of the global franchise.

“NCIS: ORIGINS has added a brilliant new dimension to the NCIS franchise with an origin story of Leroy Jethro Gibbs and a cinematic ’90s experience that features distinct characters, stories and crime solving. POPPA’S HOUSE excels with the dynamic father/son chemistry between Damon and Damon Jr. and their family-inspired stories that bring this comedy to life. These shows fit seamlessly into our Monday night lineup while resonating with viewers on CBS and Paramount+,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment.

According to VideoAmp and internal streaming data, with seven days of multiplatform viewing, NCIS: ORIGINS’ premiere has been seen by 9.0 million viewers and POPPA’S HOUSE by 6.41 million viewers. Streaming alone on Paramount+ and CBS TVE (CBS.com/ CBS app) posted significant gains from their time period premieres last season with NCIS: ORIGINS up +54% from NCIS: HAWAI’I and POPPA’S HOUSE up +137% from BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA.

POPPA’S HOUSE, starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., features Wayans as legendary talk radio host and happily divorced “Poppa” who has his point of view challenged at work when a new female co-host is hired, and at home where he finds himself still parenting his adult son, a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband. Essence Atkins and Tetona Jackson also star. Dean Lorey, Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. executive produce for CBS Studios. The show airs on Mondays 7:30-8:00 PM, Central on CBS Lake Charles.
