Spring Art Walk

The Arts and Humanities Council of SWLA is proud to present the Spring Art Walk at McNeese, taking place on Friday, May 17, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at The Quad on McNeese State University’s campus. This free, family-friendly event invites the community to celebrate creativity, local talent, and the vibrant energy of spring.

Guests can enjoy an afternoon stroll through the beautiful McNeese campus while exploring a dynamic lineup of activities. The open-air art market will feature handcrafted goods and original works from local artists, including Maya Designs, Paint & Fire, A Touch of Color, Manipura Artisanal Soaps, In Our Spare Time 3, and more. Interactive art zones will provide hands-on fun for all ages, and food trucks will offer a range of tasty bites and sweet treats.

The air will be alive with performances by local musicians, dancers, poets, and theater groups. One special highlight includes a sneak peek from Sulphur High School Theatre’s production of Beetlejuice, sure to delight theater fans of all ages. Attendees are also invited to visit the Sherman Fine Arts Annex Grand Gallery for an exclusive preview of the upcoming Talented Arts Show by CPSB students.

As part of the afternoon’s creative offerings, the Spring Art Walk will host Lawnside Figure Drawing, a casual, drop-in style experience held outdoors from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket, along with their sketchbook and favorite art supplies. The Art Factory will lead the session with free instruction, making it a welcoming entry point for artists of all skill levels. In the spirit of community and spontaneity, models will be crowd-sourced from participants—so attendees should come ready to take a turn striking a pose as part of the fun.
