Acadian Ambulance Debuts First Responder Autism Resource Hub in Southwest Louisiana

First responders and local leaders from throughout Southwest Louisiana gathered for the unveiling of Acadian Ambulance’s new First Responder Autism Resource Hub. 

The Resource Hub is a collaboration between Acadian Ambulance, Aspire Behavioral Health, State Representative Annie Spell, local law enforcement agencies, and nonprofit organizations that provide services and resources to support individuals with special needs. 

It is a collection of tools designed to support first responders when interacting with individuals with autism during emergencies. Available resources include digital educational materials, seat belt covers, and communication boards in three languages.

During the unveiling, Missy Young, director of business development; Mary Pham, community relations supervisor; and Cody White, paramedic field supervisor, presented each of the tools and explained how they could be used. 

The unveiling took place at Acadian’s National EMS Academy campus in Lake Charles. 

The First Responder Autism Resource Hub is available online at no cost to community members and first responders.
