CBS Cares about our local non-profits. Peer Initiative is a teen suicide prevention nonprofit, saving teen lives through a combination of peer support, awareness education, advocacy, and community outreach.
Peer Initiative began with something called the Pilot Club at Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. The efforts of the club were so well received, it birthed the non-profit, which helps to implement Pilot Clubs in schools all across the state.
Zoe Mouton is a Senior at Sam Houston High School, Vice President of their Pilot Club, a Peer Support Team Member and Student Ambassador for Peer Initiative. She tells us more about their organization in this segment of CBS Cares.
