CBS News Announces Special Primetime Coverage of the First Presidential Debate on June 27
Jun 21, 2024 09:11AM ● By Kelsey SwireCBS News will deliver special multiplatform AMERICA DECIDES: CAMPAIGN ‘24 coverage of the presidential debate between President Biden and former President Trump on Thursday, June 27, across platforms and programs. CBS EVENING NEWS anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell will anchor coverage starting at 8:00 PM, ET on the CBS Television Network and on CBS News 24/7, the streaming network. CBS News’ coverage will include a live simulcast of the CNN Presidential Debate starting at 9:00 PM, ET, followed by original reporting and analysis with CBS News’ team of trusted political journalists as they deliver fresh reporting, context and analysis following the first televised matchup of the election between the presidential hopefuls.
Norah O’Donnell will anchor coverage during debate night from the CBS News New York City Studios in Times Square. O’Donnell will be joined in the studio by CBS MORNINGS co-host Gayle King, CBS News chief political analyst John Dickerson, FACE THE NATION moderator and chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan, chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett, and senior White House and political correspondent Ed O’Keefe. CBS News chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa, chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes, and political correspondent Caitlin Huey-Burns will contribute coverage from the debate site in Atlanta. CBS News senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang will report from Raleigh, N.C., as she watches the debate with undecided voters. CBS News political contributors Joel Payne and Terry Sullivan will join to offer analysis and reactions.
CBS News digital platforms, including CBSNews.com, the CBS News app and CBS News social channels will deliver dedicated coverage ahead, during and after the debate. Coverage of the debate will stream everywhere CBS News 24/7 is distributed, including Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
CBS News Radio’s pre-debate coverage will begin at 8:30 PM, ET. World News Roundup Anchor Steve Kathan will lead the anchored coverage team. He will be joined by CBS News Radio White House Reporter Linda Kenyon. CBS News Radio will air CBS’ simulcast of the debate.
CBS Newspath reporters Jared Hill and Skyler Henry will bring all the action in Atlanta to 200+ CBS Affiliates. Marathon coverage runs from 4:00 AM, ET on Thursday through 4:00 PM, ET on Friday.
