doubt a decisions been made yet for this I think it's kind of early really scooter right hang on to that hang on get into all of that uh Derek Carr I don't know he's in a mass unit I mean he got a concussion he got a back he got a shoulder problem who's going to start with the Saints in Carolina this Sunday it doesn't look it does not look like not playing I said on this show My Bromance went from Brady to Brock py this guy has Joe Montana in him P's a deal man we'll get into more of that all right against my better JN let's start with the Saints Rick let me say this I know you seven one game back in the South now Rick good Detroit team they're in the worst conference there is in the National Football League I know Rick you've got I put that I do read he hey okay I do read if you're mad it's at the uh playoff of the uh College playoff committee considered somebody from the NFC South is going to make playoffs they will be there no they will that's no doubt about it sco somebody's got to represent him but my thing is answer the Doom and Gloom go ahead pile on you know you say jamus Winston okay I get that but you know what can you give him a little bit of credit not to be in that Spotlight for so many games and you want him to come in and be perfect but wait scooter come on come on now you got to I get that though but car has been starting every game look at what he's doing come on now guys let's be honest now jamus Winston's coming off the bench you can't expect him to be a dime now you can't expect him to hit a dime every time he throws it can't he miss get he missed three or four Miss some easy throw he did but you know what like I said earlier do you just set car down and let jamus take it the rest of the away no did you see the last series four consecutive awful pass what did I just say though scooter what did I just say scooter what did I just say the coaches will the coaches will lean on practice I said it earlier in the week I said it earlier in the week Tamm Hill should be given a shot if they want to try to sour these last take him away it takes him away from that all that other stuff he does but what's the most important position I but you sound like at this stage maybe you're right maybe it's worth a try but if car can't play if car's out if I I kind of agree you've got to pick your spots with him I agree I agree yeah you can't do Winston yeah the the the more times you're using you know the less effective he's going to be let me and let me say this scoo and Rick as you guys know this when you had the Saints there and when you had um come on my quarterback help me out that was when you had Drew Brees you had a system of course that system works they don't have a system they don't have a system they don't have a system me don't have a system Drew Brees also had Sean pton that's my point to that's my point there's five and seven mess with this roster which is littered littered with talented players aging got some age in some spots but a lot well they got a lot of hurt right now out lot of morees out even with that a lot of things who has most of the blame is it the coaches is it the players or is it Mickey Lumis in that front office a going into the trade Mick Lum has a lot bringing in maybe a Chase young that the 49ers got or another receiver yeah Lumis just sat on his thumbs look let me who do you blame I think it all around and I think watching the Saints is just excruciating it is because you know in the key moments you can call it bad luck but when it keeps happening again and again and again B preparation uh yeah no it's not lucky I'm having a hard time trying to find words to give the Saints any kind of Hope whatsoever Rick because you've got some decent players on that Squad you really really do but Rick my thing is this I go back to the system Rick you don't have a system in place that can help you to even try and win you don't have one you throwing stuff on the wall Rick and whatever sticks that's what we going with you can't be an NFL team like that Rick what Pete car Michael has gotten better at is using Tamm Hill better he has used him in a I would agree with that they have used him more they have more than ever I think in the past last year was I like that last year we but look how late in the year you started using Tas look how late in the year you started using it's not as think not you think but all the turnovers and the goofy the the M tackles on Def the defense when the defense started going in the toilet four or five games ago it it you knew what you had at the beginning of year they were defensive centri with he why not put him more in the mix of what you was doing on I think they're trying to do that they're definitely trying to do that the season's over scooter the season's over could very well be they very what what would be a success making the playoffs they still got a chance okay I just game you out with Kamar and Hill ol and that still it's banged up with offensive line Demario Davis lore whatever they got on defense five and seven Dennis Allen's gone yeah he gone G we've been saying at the beginning of the year Rick I mean it's decision you're making it now Rick that should happened at the beginning of the year Rick Dennis Allen is not a offensive minded coach he's not a head coach keep him as a defensive a conference title and Florida State did okay Louisville was ranked 14th Texas won a conference title and who did they beat Kevin number 18 Oklahoma State Louisville was r 14 yeah they did they weren't awfully impressive I got ITA State Defense is Elite people and speaking of which not the dog on Texas yeah they ran up a bunch of points I watch that game they did yeah they did Oklahoma State's defense it's right there with LSU not not real good scooter it's just so subjective Kevin early in the week I didn't throw this out all right early in the week fair man but dog on it you just don't know what Florida State could have done in the next month or whatever it is three and a half weeks with their number two quarterback you just don't know Rick but that's what they look at Rick because people want to see a good game and when you play your third team when you play your third team quarterback do you really think it's going to be that good of a game the best I've been able to come around on it it's not fair to FL FL to State no it's not scooter but sometimes life ain't Fair no you're right scoter you I I don't know they did everything right the committee had to screw way seven and five wiscons they lost they were ranked mostly year I think it's not that you could have I'm not excited about it I'm not excited about that match up at all what what do you want hey you don't know I don't like all this bowl attachment thing anymore just open it up open it up but we had to L Miami 7 you never know which teams are going to show up after the opt outs in the portal anyway right does it matter well we've been that russer has already opted out yeah all right well jamus Jaden Daniels opt out well we may know but time this show I I hope he plays I think he will I'm database platform how can you who broke in who broke in and where did that video which probably included the signals and all that stuff because it's highly reported Jim reported this that there were players coming off the field for MCN and the Southeastern loss in Hammond saying they were calling out our plays they knew our signals and they knew our Place something's fishy my old school southe Louisiana I'm not buying it is there more to this story can something come out of this I think there's more to it and Jim is continuing to follow and he needs a dig I'm just saying Rick at this level do you think it's really that effective at this level yes I do and look look if you're going to blow this whole Michigan thing up and the sign stealing and they think they solved it in 3 weeks and it took the NCAA 5 years to get will a game look talking about the power five those yes I can go with that but you talking about a team doesn't matter Kevin you're you're throwing shade Throwing Shade coach a half and the other one and I just kind of sat there so they could prepare for for what they've done so I mean look I haven't been in a game necessarily in in over a year yeah but I mean look basketball is basketball we're just moving five people around this isn't rocket this isn't rocket science so um you know I'm looking forward to it it'll be it'll be uh exciting to get back out there something that passionate about something that I enjoy so that part will be fun but I hope hope I just don't mess it up as well as we're playing I just got to stay out of the way and try try not to mess it up that would be December 13th Southern Miss game next you can yell at Players instead of your phone coach when you when you when you get back I mean people look at this team right now when they're playing they don't look like a South and Conference team they look like a much like an SEC team I mean is that is that the kind of product you putting on the floor coach when you when you look the structure your offense and defense is that pretty much what you want to do we an SEC team right right but but I mean the way you play he knows what an SEC team I know he does believe me I know he does I mean we you know we're our style of play we play similar to how we played obiously when we were in the SEC down the road but but uh you know I I I think that you know we we certainly look I believe this with all my heart doesn't matter what sport you coach if you coach soccer basketball whatever if you show up with the best athletes you got the best chance to win whether that's football soccer volleyball baseball whatever it may be and so we always want to have as good athletes as we're capable of having or as good athletes as as as possible and so um you know in that sense yeah we want to be athletic we want to be more athletic than most of the teams uh than most of the teams in our uh in our league and so we've got to uh you know that that's something we recruit to that's something my staff's very aware of as well I've been trying to explain to Rick the comment that you made you cannot win the Kentucky Derby on a donkey I've been trying to explain this Mr I I think I got that one Cowboy head basketball coach will Wade has joined us on sound off here at sports Le bear don't blow your don't blow your brains when I say thises you obviously in my humble opinion have one of the best players already in the souland conference in shahada Wells uh 23y old senior just a fantastic leader on the floor you talk about him as a person the phenomenal player he is off the floor and on the floor i' I've watched him I've watched him the TV at home coach I go way back to Joe Dumar he's a player he reminds me of Joe Dumar in and I watched Joe for four years yeah the way he moves the way he penetrates the body type his the way he just handles the ball inside and outside and how he gets that shot off there is I'm not saying he's Joe Dumars I'm just saying there's a lot of similar I've seen him play he's a heck of a player the way he moves on the floor he's a really good player you know he's a veteran presence he's been around he's played in a bunch of different leagues he played Junior College he played in the sunbell played in the Big 12 now he's with us I mean you know he's been around the block and he and he knows you know he knows he knows what to do he knows how to play and so um he's got a calming presence about him with our team not only can you know he's led us in scoring he's let us in assists he's been our top rebounder I mean he's Ste he's a really he had one of the and we knew that coming in he had one of the best steel rates but he prepares well he works hard he's a great kid as good a player as he is he's even better person even better play a better kid and so it's been uh he's been a lot of fun to coach I've coached a lot of talented guys but very rarely do you have a talented guy you know this that's your best kid a leader somebody everybody looks up to does everything right off the court you don't have to worry about him like that's that's very rare usually your best player there's a lot of they bring with them sometimes expected too coach sometimes expected to when you get a low maintenance really really good player you feel like you've hit the lottery yeah you've you've had to F your own team to a degree from afar how good a reed have you gotten on this new conference you're in you know I've been fortunate because of that I've been able to watch some of these other conference teams I mean I think there's some there's some good team you know one thing that I found is everybody in the league plays a little bit of a different way which is going to be tough because we play Thursday Monday so you know like St uh St Louis New Orleans just slings the ball inside all the time they got Johnson who's a great sh they're trying to throw that thing inside some of the other teams in our league are much more guard oriented uh incarnate words denying every pass uh uh Corpus Christie's really tall and long and you know so you know there's a lot of different there's not a lot of folks that are playing a similar style which which will make which will make you know preparation a big challenge especially on the short turnarounds on those Saturday Mondays that make that make the preparation on the on the Monday really really difficult because there's not going to be a lot of carryover from the team you played Saturday to the team you're playing Monday I know Rick was I'm probably taking Rick's question though but coach how do you feel being able to come back on the UL game well let me think back let me think you back that I know Rick I know Rick was going I know I rick a little short version yeah for the viewers Yeah in our region of this ill will and this feud between you and you bring Bob Marin well we had a little issue the NIT game I was there yeah but I mean look I was standing up for my program he was standing up he was standing up for his program look he's he's built I mean he's got the most consistent program in the state if you look at in terms of churning out winning turnning out winning I mean I have I have a lot of respect for him it's not easy to do at the at the mid and mid plus level what he's done and look I mean I I felt like he took some shots at us so I was going to fire back that's what I do but that was a different time I was a little younger a little more of a then you know I have I have I have a ton of respect for what done and what he's built and how hard it is to do that there the truth comes out there's the back follow up on that cuz this is too juicy not to have you had much contact with him since that nit game we we haven't had much contact there's more layers to the story I think we'll probably have our first Contact when um when when when we see each other on the court but like I said I mean look that was 6 years ago I was a long time ago was it that long it was it was a it was a heated it was a heated game and and look he was standing up for his program I stood up for my program afterwards it was really nothing more than that I know the fans made a lot out of it and made for some excitement in an nit game this is two totally different teams in our final 45 seconds look it's going to be Southern Miss is going to be a huge game cuz they're very very good uh you laugh you had expected sellout you're coming back to the bench of the Southern Miss and then the UL all that drama and stuff like that s-2 whatever your record will be at this point the team's still you're good you got to ratchet up for Southern Miss and UL right that's what I'm saying we' got we've got to play much better than we've been playing what got us here won't get us there what got us here won't you know won't get us where we want to go and the more you win the more the expectations rise that's what I told our guys and most guys more they win they want to
